Working with a Developer for the second time, Celia had a pretty good idea of what was required – a very large space was set aside together with a big utility room that could double as a staff kitchen when entertaining.
A massive island with banquette seating was decided on – this being the focal point of the room. Particular attention is paid to the ergonomics of a very large space – prep areas need to be near the cooking areas, fridges and freezers need to be easily accessed too. Although this kitchen has masses of storage, entertaining crockery is housed in the utility room.
Large cooking appliances were chosen together with a bank of huge refrigeration in stainless steel to one side of the kitchen. A huge range cooker sits happily under a hand painted canopy extractor.
A hand painted kitchen was settled on, using a subtle grey colour and a vibrant bright blue used as a contrast on the island. Glazed cabinets break up the long run of units providing a home for specialised glass or objects.
