Bespoke Utility Room in a Bedfordshire Country House
Leading directly from the main kitchen, this beautifully considered utility room was designed as a practical extension of our Bedfordshire country house project.
The generous space provides a dedicated area for much of the everyday food preparation, helping to keep the main kitchen uncluttered when cooking and entertaining. Extensive bespoke cabinetry provides plenty of concealed storage, alongside generous granite work surfaces and a large undermounted sink.
A purpose-built appliance cupboard keeps smaller kitchen appliances neatly organised and readily accessible, while open oak shelving provides useful storage for cookery books and adds warmth against the painted cabinetry.
The utility room also incorporates a separate laundry area, with the washing machine and tumble dryer discreetly concealed behind matching cabinet doors. Tall cupboards provide further storage, allowing everything from household essentials to larger items to be kept out of sight.
Painted cabinetry, aged brass handles, natural oak details and the original exposed timber ceiling ensure the room retains the character of the property while connecting beautifully with the adjoining kitchen.
The result is a highly practical working space that takes care of the everyday jobs behind the scenes without compromising on the craftsmanship and attention to detail found throughout the rest of the home.
This utility room forms part of our wider Bedfordshire country house project – take a look at the adjoining kitchen case study to see how the two spaces work beautifully together.
